Imagine if EMTs were taking pictures of injuries and beaming them back to the hospital so that the emergency room will be better prepared for the patient. Or police being able to watch video feed from school security cameras in real-time during an active shooter scenario. Middle East Instability Could Last Decades

Egypt is in the throes of a deep political crisis, and violence that has claimed nearly 800 lives in several days of clashes between Islamist protesters and security forces. Together But Unequal: Firefighters Valued Differently

There are about 11,500 contract firefighters across the United States, working for at least 150 private firefighting firms at salaries that start at about $11 an hour. All of them will be denied federal benefits if they die fighting fires on public land.  AFP Photo Firefighters are considered heroes by many. They boldly go where most dare not go – into the fire to save lives or protect property. Despite the bravery they have displayed, with some giving up their lives so others may live, why are they marginalized?

US Expats Flee Taxman by Giving Up Citizenship

In the second quarter of this year, the number of Americans that gave up their US passport hit a record of 1,131. That was 66.5% higher than the previous quarter and up nearly six-fold from a year earlier. CIA Owns Up to 1953 Coup That Toppled Iranian PM

The CIA-backed 1953 coup against Iran’s Mohammad Mossadegh strengthened the rule of the shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who became a close US ally. The Shah was toppled in 1979 with the new leadership making hostility to the United States a cornerstone of Iran's foreign policy. Fairfield Police Says Cable Outage Not an Emergency

Fairfield Connecticut police warned that the 911 system should only be used for life-threatening emergencies only and misuse of the system may result in an arrest.  Wikimedia Commons The Fairfield Connecticut Police Department feels people seems to have a wrong notion of what constitutes an emergency. Over the weekend, the Fairfield Police Department has been receiving many 911 calls with callers complaining because of a cable TV outage in the area.
